Indulge me

http://www.emmyswithjoan.com/

It made me laugh-I know! I came to the computer to check on mailing costs (returns, UPS or USPS that was the question) and somehow landed here. I have also been:

  1. Stashing my bday product from you all MOway
  2. then going to Mcphee website to want more, more, more
  3. looking at Christmas flights, still silly amounts of money
  4. reading horoscope that said I shouldn't buy stuff, ahem
  5. thinking about what I could cook without going to the grocery
  6. thinking, no, I really should go to the grocery store for pantry type items
  7. not doing: laundry, dishes, exercising at the pool, reading of library book that needs to be returned
  8. did find cat, enjoying sun pool in front room

So, what is your Emmy prep going to be? With John away I am looking at indulging a full viewing, i.e. not taping it and fastforwarding through 3 hours in 10 minutes on MON.

Regular catch-up

Standard activities are dishes, laundry, putting it all away
So what, I hope to do differently:
  • cookies
  • letter-writing
  • going through a box
  • home-cooking, 2 for 2 in meals today
  • email rehab-it's so full, I'm really trying to rid myself
  • use something around the house-video, mp3, recorder

Later on I'm really hoping for cell phone shopping!!!!

Back to the Track

OMG! I can't believe I haven't saved any projected knowledge in almost 2 months. I blame the lovely nephew visit, the recuperating foot and the HEAT. With the Labor Day Weekend, it feels like these things are done and it's time to get serious. BUT, it is the holiday weekend, so this is what I am doing instead:

  1. Practice with DVD Recorder
  2. Put parking sticker on car
  3. Put renewal sticker on license plates-ck
  4. Grocery shop-ck
  5. Read my magazines-ck
  6. Ready magazines from the library-ck
  7. Read a book-ck Self Storage loved the title!
  8. Laundry-ck
  9. Change sheets in guestroom-ck
  10. Cook some food instead of completely subsisting on Fast Food

I am impressed at what I have done in the meantime of thinking about what I should be doing, and doing instead. More attempts later.

It's time to pack again

John pretty much left his suitcase sitting there since the last trip, so he's a lot closer to being ready. We are headed to TX to exchange goods and pick up my nephew, so he can "see" the Wonders of NM-green chile and dust ;)

I am going to concentrate on the relaxation of the journey and just see what happens-I am hoping shopping, movies and a little history.

Tendencies to not do what needs to be done

You know you always need to be looking for something (tearing through boxes and piles of paper) when someone else is desperately needing to sleep. My quiet tasks were:

  1. Finding out about scary extra charges on cell phone bill (maybe it's even better that we are planning on changing)
  2. Deleting email, so standard
  3. Phone calls of slightly shorter length (again who knows when some of these Voice charges are stacking up)
  4. Confirming hotel reservations (this has been a hotel spring and summer and by far Embassy Suites is the winner!)
  5. Word Whomp (with the typing sounds off of course)
  6. Thinking about loose papers to turn into web documents and other storage means
  7. Mom call
  8. Drinking water, quiet and healthy
  9. Waking sleeper up when you realize their alarm must not have gone off
  10. Looking for piece of paper in the madness and having no luck!

My tendencies need to get kicked out-not kick-started. I guess I'll blame my foot for slowing my progress literally and figuratively, so to bed and hope for tomorrow.

Where I go for inspiration

http://www.getorganizednow.com/

Everything is always perfect, like the 6 things for organization:
3 ring binders
baskets
portable file folders
plastic storage totes
notebooks
shelves

I have been attempting to put loose recipes in a binder, so I'll make that task #1.
I have been thinking of putting a basket by the phone, task #2.
And I have totally been wanting file folders for our desk and who knows where else, so task #3.

Although my tasks 1-3 will wait until I get the guest room semi-ready, so off to Alpha Task #1.

blue crate of ancient paper

Really, tax returns from 1993? Hello, we have a winner to get rid of. The only problem is there's that whole shred dilemma-buy one, tote to office, buy one that is "safe" for all humans and pets? Currently, I tote to the office, but that's a lot of organization. By now, I think I can predict, I can't keep the toting up-I have managed to bring the slick paper in though for at least a week +

Consider this re shredder:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8075724/
it could be the law for your household, hopefully not ours.

Foot health = project #29

I went to my appt on FRI morning and the doctor said my foot was looking good (even the tuning fork didn't hurt), BUT I still needed to clomp around in the black boot of annoyance. I am happy not to be in a cast, but I hate the bootie and the ace bandage and the tape and on and on. I will continue to baby it, and hope that it really feels 100 % soon.

After being on semi-bedrest for almost a week (since last FRI) I may have done a bit too much yesterday, because the back of my foot was hurting The doctor opined that it was probably a touch of tendinitis from the strain-I love trading owies.

Really, I am still going to blame the heck out of the Police-their concert is why I was traveling and walking around and hopping around so much.

I know, I should be happier and not so grumpy. My mood was put into annoyance overdrive when I went to McD's for a celebratory egg product. First someone tried to nail me as they were swinging wide in the drive-thru and then a truck (and I know if I want my egg product someone needs to deliver it, but not in the only lane left in the parking lot!), so of course I left McD's and went to our local donut/burrito establishment.

Well, with all of the excitement done, I guess I could get back to work. Work being all of the other projected items at home and out and about.

I was very proud of going to aqua aerobics, but hopefully that doesn't cause more foot trauma. Also proud of fridge clearing out for a good lunch cause ;)

Now if I could only make croutons out of dead bagels, that would be an accomplishment. There's always SUN.

The build-up

It could be the clothes pile, but I think it refers to my stressing about work. If I build something up to be difficult then my logic tells me it won't actually be. So my build-up was lack of sleep, tossing and turning, and really it was nothing. If I had to say that my disorganized ways are working on two levels now. It's possible that the homefront is on better terms. I hope that doesn't only mean one zone will click at a time. I'll let the weekend work on motivation.

Happiness is

a full bag of trash. Bad laptop typist that I am, I totally lost this post, so keeping it short. I hope the holiday brings enthusiasm and refreshment for all + it's not too far until Labor Day :) After recuperating from my possibly stress-fractured foot, I am ready to be back at work, or at least deleting work emails ;)

The trash filling refers to being able to get some space by the side of the bed. I thoroughly enjoyed the Clean House special about the messiest, because I know we aren't the messiest, but sometimes . . . .

Next project, Christmas in July, which will use stamps + odd items around the house.

To do, done

I also used one of the Mp3 players, so that should be noted for listing purposes. Electronics around the house, which should get more use:
  1. mp3 players I & II
  2. cell phone updating
  3. camera, but that's getting there
  4. PS2 as game unit
  5. PS1 for nostalgia
  6. Gameboy

Before this turns into a burglary to do, that's enough. How many toys can we have and not take full-advantage of, hm?

Welcome to July

I can't believe it's a new month-my time being wrapped up in ace bandage must have stopped my watching of the calendar. The bandage is for the possibly stress-fractured foot and so pampering and stir crazyness has begun. The ace bandage state has allowed me to:
  1. Sweep up all manner of things from the carpet.
  2. Do dishes in a semi-yogic leg crossed state, so as not to put weight on the "bad" foot.
  3. Read a lot of magazines.
  4. Listen to a book, fall asleep during its lulling tones and oops, not have a clue what happened in book.
  5. Clean silver jewelry.

It has not allowed me to:

  1. Read actual books-too long.
  2. Write letters.
  3. Send off for Transformers codes from Pepsi.
  4. Save money, too much online shopping.
  5. Do laundry, bad or good?

I didn't watch too much either, so I must have been sleeping a lot in between snack attacks.

Most amazingly, from the master list, I did use my digital camera. I took pictures of my shoes, but still photos were made. The only problem, I can't find the USB to hook them up to the computer, so that the world can see my shoes, sigh!

One step at a time, or hop as the ace-bandaged foot allows.

Ways to keep from shopping and procrastinating on kitchen cleaning to boot

I looked at my bank balance and one that had felt full, was now looking rather lean. I wanted to go shopping and a trip to another city was even mentioned but most meals made me feel icky. I have decided to link my stomach to my wallet and realized that it kept me from shopping. That is a good thing, even though I really did want shorts-ha!

Of course, since I needed to recuperate, I read magazines and did not attempt kitchen pick-up. Wallet 1, house 0. This is probably the best outcome, but the kitchen floor might beg to differ.

Done:
I did finish a book, a few magazines and more laundry. I also watched The Closer-good stuff. I was so glad to see that the teen-ish actor who is always playing crazy got to just be gay and not crazy, progress?

A recycling bag is also full and I'll take it into the office tomorrow. I also sorted some miscellaneous papers, so my conscience should chill on "what else could have been done."

Work in progess

I have to laugh, because work has become perpetually in progress and not progressing. I have to think that momentum in one area of life will kickstart the others. If not, I think I'm turning into a major sloth.

It was a distressing week and now that I own up to that, I need to organize my work time so that it gets more purposeful and fast. I don't want to be all snarly about work issues, because first of all there's some privacy issues to skirt and this is about my me time and work is kind of an everyone else time, you know?

Well, I'm hoping to work it out some next week and not be so on the sidelines in my head.

10 Things Target

Being an avid shopper/consumer, I inadvertantly found a way to curb my spending today. I had returned something and the clerk mentioned that I could checkout there if I had only ten things. The speculative shopping list I had brought was much longer than that, but in the interest of speedy cko, well, ten it was! I slashed my list considerably and wound up with I believe a grand total of eight items (thoroughly confusing the new person behind the customer service desk, but that's okay) and less damage overall to my wallet.

So, my realization was, if I told myself I should keep my items to 10 (I might crank it up to 20 if I am in grocery land) wherever I went that would be a timesaver and monetary saver to boot. I realize that many items fall into wants and not needs, but this probably allowed for a little bit of fudging about really needing granola bars, so I won't be too critical about it. I will be proud of my value pack granola bars and enjoy them on our TX roadtrip happening in about three weeks!

Other things: enjoyed cleaning out a bin, and did an excellent round of errands (pool, pharmacy, dry cleaner, library, post office) all before 1:00 PM. The post office visit allowed me to get those Star Wars stamps-beyond the best stamps ever!!!!

Also found my card supplies, yeah!!!!

off to vacation

On vacation for a few days, think I did some of what I intended before I left. Will think more witty thoughts about everything I am trying to accomplish next time. There's some conflict in my wiring between organization and the breakdown of adhering to any of it. I also know I shouldn't be too hard on myself, because there are a lot of things going on. Super attention to detail and art and craft should be followed by complete inattention?

It's not that bad. I will see what a break does for my skills.

Multi-task gone sloth

Was it the Wednesday? the power outage? the tiny bit of laundry gathering in the morning? My sum total for all projects, personally and homestead-y were pretty much nil today.

To reframe, I could say that with so much attention and progress in the past days, I couldn't keep up such a pace. I did finally get Jesus is Magic is watched, so wait that does qualify as a move ahead in project land, because watching titles that I have on endless checkout is one of the things I should list. Positivity reframing reigns. With the weekend traveling almost upon me I need to either make hay tomorrow OR let the slothdom reign completely. Maybe making so many lists is not the way to motivate myself, but here is hope in the eternal quest.

Goal for tomorrow: watch Dark City and finish wedding book, nice combo

The good thing about coaxing the cat out of the great wild backyard

I found a new task-picking up other folks cigareete ;) butts in our backyard. While coaxing kitty, I'd look for this particularly annoying trash. This adventure gave me a chance to remember the backyard was a whole other listable area. I think multi-tasking through all possible moments will be the key to overall project completion glory. Of course, I appear to be taking the night off after this multi revelation by eating tater tots and enjoying rerun Veronica Mars. So multi-task motivation is what I'll be acquiring . . . starting tomorrow.

Morning exercise streak does continue-hoorah

Lost cat lost sleep

Having a black cat that can disappear into the night might be a reason to always check for the cat being inside before tucking in for the night. I think not seeing her is what caused me to wake up five hours later in a panic. We went through all of the house's nooks and crannies and still no Charm. I'm not even sure why John went outside to look for her. She had hunkered down behind some backyard rubble and then hid under a trailer while John and I cooed at her to leave.

Starting is the hardest part

When I look around my abode, I realize there are projects a plenty and I thought if I somehow send them in to the cosmos I will get more motivated to complete them. This record may prove that to be complete unfounded and craftily so. good luck to me
