Ancient Veggie Times Tips to Green your Fridge

  1. Ditch the plastic-go for glass containers
  2. Upgrade and downsize your fridge, look for Energy Star label (isn't that getting revamped somehow)
  3. Forget ice and water dispensers-use 14% of the energy
  4. Fill it up
  5. Leftovers-no more than 3-4 days
  6. Keep it clean-naturally, baking soda & water or vinegar
  7. Vacuum the coils
  8. Check the seals
  9. Keep fridge from hot spots-north or east wall is best & away from window or stove
  10. 36-38 degrees, freezer at 0

Writing things down creates more success

http://www.dailyfooddiary.net/fooddiaryhome.html

Mentioned in Shape Summer 2009. Whether written or blogged about, good record keeping seems to be effective at improvements in time or increased amounts of exercise.

I need to think about this for the box unpacking and general home maintenance too. If I kept track of what we did, would we better motivated to continue? Let's see how tonight goes records-wise. This sounds like a good thing!

New month=new thing

I realize that a new month is not actually here yet, but it pays to be prepared. As I floated around the pool this morning (Saturdays are for water aerobics!) I thought it's time for a regimen. It's the house, it's the fridge, it's the not so healthy mindset all over again. I decided two is the magic number for the month.

This may be easy when it comes to two tacos or two cookies, and maybe multi-tasking like letting the dishes soak while picking up will be a household twosome will suffice, but it's the new start.

I know I'll probably wind up reading two books at a time, two magazines and have two NetFlix perpetually lying around, but I will go out on a limb for the house part too (ha).

I wonder if this started swimming in my brain because (in tribute to summer mode) I was playing De la Soul and there is the three song that kicks off Three Feet High and Rising and I thought to personalize it would be better hence the "2".

Two check starts on Monday, ha!
